Acceleration of estate is the shortening of the time at which a future estate is to vest, as where the precedent estate fails to come into existence, or, having come into existence, terminates prematurely. For instance, where a widow given a life estate renounces the will and elects to take her dower or statutory interest instead, whereby the remainderman takes immediately as if the widow had died.
