Administration Letters

Administration letters is an instrument issued by a probate court, surrogate, or other proper officer authorizing the administrator or administratrix to take charge and administration of the goods and property of an intestate, where property will pass under intestacy rules or where there are no executors living or having been validly appointed under the deceased’s will. Earlier, the administration letters granted to a representative of a testate estate was called as “letters of administration with the will annexed” or “letters of administration cum testamentio annexio.”
