The chancery court may authorize the executor or administrator to sell personal property of the estate at a private sale

They may also sell any personal property of the decedent necessary for the payment of the debts and expenses, for at least the appraised value.

The executor or administrator, even without court order, may sell for cash, either at public or private sale, perishable goods or chattels or livestock of the decedent, whether it be necessary for the payment of debts and expenses of administration or not.
